This is the ideal itinerary if you want to see the largest herd movement of animals on the planet and go to the best national parks in Tanzania’s north. This trip will concentrate on the western Serengeti. The great migration occurs from May to July across the Grumeti River. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver, who will transfer you to Arusha Planet Lodge, situated in Arusha town. Here, you will settle into your accommodations and prepare for the thrilling safari adventure ahead. A comprehensive briefing will be provided to outline all details of your itinerary and tour package.

 

Day 2: Tarangire National Park
Following an early breakfast, you will head to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. The park is famed for its large elephant populations and a wide variety of bird species in breeding plumage. During the dry season, the Tarangire River attracts abundant wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, kudu, oryx, and gerenuk, as well as vast herds of gazelles, zebras, and wildebeests. Predators are frequently spotted nearby, offering exhilarating wildlife encounters. In the late afternoon, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 3: Central Serengeti National Park
This morning, you will journey to the legendary Serengeti National Park, stopping en route at a Maasai village to gain insight into their fascinating warrior culture. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a picnic lunch before embarking on a game drive. If traveling between May and July, you may witness the spectacular Great Migration, where wildebeests cross the Grumeti River, evading crocodiles and other predators. After a memorable day, you will spend the night in a tented camp in the Central Serengeti.

 

Day 4: Serengeti National Park
Start your day early to explore the expansive Serengeti plains and marvel at the Great Migration. Observe vast herds of hoofed animals moving in a clockwise pattern, followed closely by predators. The Serengeti offers unparalleled opportunities to spot all members of the Big Five—lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and buffalo—within a single park. After a full day of wildlife viewing, return to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Serengeti.

 

Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, enjoy a game drive in the central Serengeti, an area renowned for its dense populations of lions and leopards. This region offers exceptional wildlife viewing throughout the year, with species such as pangolins, ostriches, hippos, giraffes, elephants, and cheetahs frequently sighted. After lunch in the Serengeti, you will travel to Ngorongoro for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu
Begin your day with a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater, home to nearly 30,000 animals, including the Big Five. The crater’s unique ecosystem supports a diverse array of wildlife, including zebras, buffaloes, lions, wildebeests, baboons, elephants, flamingos, hippos, cheetahs, and endangered black rhinos. The vibrant colors and dramatic cloud formations create an awe-inspiring landscape, earning the crater recognition as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders. In the late afternoon, you will proceed to Farm of Dreams Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park and Return to Arusha
After breakfast, your safari guide will take you to Lake Manyara National Park, a biodiverse area named after its shallow soda lake, which is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 bird species. During your exploration, you may encounter monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, elephants, and the iconic tree-climbing lions. The park’s varied landscapes include grassy plains, primate-filled woodlands, and baobab-dotted cliffs. After an extensive game drive, you will return to Arusha Planet Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 8: Departure from Arusha
On your final day, enjoy breakfast or lunch before being transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. This concludes your unforgettable safari adventure in Tanzania.
